Dear Friends, Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to provide an introduction to this section of the website, which links the European Association of Hospital Pharmacist’s engagement to improve care and outcomes for patients with the activities of hospital pharmacists.
In 2014, EAHP published the European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy, agreed at the European Summit of Hospital Pharmacy, that express commonly agreed objectives and recommendations for pharmacy practice which every European health system should aim for in hospital pharmacy services. These statements were developed in partnership with patient and healthcare professional organisations and EAHP's member country associations.
The Board subsequently established an implementation plan for the Statements, enabling EAHP to make informed choices in supporting each hospital pharmacist to achieve the highest possible standards for patient care and outcomes. That plan was approved by the Presidents and Delegates of our members’ countries , in June 2016, as the pathway to the aspirations for tomorrow One aim from this project was a new section in our website fully dedicated to the Statements and the implementation project.
This section of the website will demonstrate why the Statements are so important to a variety of stakeholders, from patients and policy makers through to doctors, nurses and other healthcare practitioners, as well as our many partners in industry and academia. The website will provide resources to help with the implementation of the Statements within individual hospitals or at regional or national level. These resources will include an evidence base for each of the Statements plus general material to assist our member associations with implementation.
Among other things, you will find on this website valuable tools and resources including a self-assessment tool and an evidence map showing Statement Implementation Learning Centres Collaborative and case-studies.
I look forward to your engagement in our journey in hospital pharmacy practice and the ultimate benefit of improved patient outcomes.
Joan Peppard- EAHP President
